Disclaimer — Garage Check is a convenience reminder, not a security or safety system

Garage Check is a convenience reminder, not a security or safety system — not a substitute for closing and locking your garage. It uses your existing Ring outdoor camera to look at your garage door once a night (or when you tap "Check now") and tells you what it sees. It monitors nothing continuously, detects no intrusions, controls no doors, and takes no action of any kind. Garage Check relies on third-party services (Ring's cameras and media APIs, network connectivity, email delivery services, and push notification platforms operated by Apple and Google) that may delay, drop, or fail to deliver a check or a notification.

Checks can fail, and results can be wrong. The camera may be offline or asleep, no usable image may exist, the freshest image may be from earlier in the evening, and the vision model may misread the door because of darkness, weather, glare, snow, occlusion, or camera angle. "Garage closed" is the model's reading of one photograph — it is not a guarantee. If it matters, check the door yourself.

Door state only. No person identification. No plate reading. Garage Check reads the state of the garage door in a single frame. It does not identify, recognise, or enroll any person; it performs no facial recognition or other biometric analysis; and it does not read license plates — vehicle presence, when reported, is a simple yes/no. It has no law-enforcement integrations. It is intended for outdoor cameras only, watching a garage and property you own or control.

A short camera "wake" may occur. When no recent footage exists at check time, Garage Check may open a brief (about 8-second) server-side live session solely to prompt the camera to record a fresh frame. Media from a wake session is machine-processed only and is never viewed by a human.

By using Garage Check you acknowledge that we make no warranties about the running of checks, the accuracy of door-state results, or the delivery of notifications, and that closing and locking your garage — and verifying that it is closed — remains your responsibility.
