Need help with Garage Check?
We aim to respond within 2 business days.
Check results are delivered by email to your Ring-account address (and by push notification when a mobile device is registered) — check your inbox and spam folder first. Most missed notifications fall into one of three buckets: (a) the nightly check is disabled or snoozed for that garage — check the garage's settings in the app; (b) your account is on the free tier (checks require an active trial or Premium subscription); (c) the device push token was stale. Sign out and sign back in to refresh the push token. If the check ran but no image could be obtained, you get a "Couldn't check the garage" notification instead — check that the camera is online in the Ring app.
The camera had no fresh footage at check time and could not be woken, so Garage Check judged the newest available frame instead. The timestamp tells you when that image was captured — the door state may have changed since. Tap "Check now" to try again, or check the door yourself.
The vision model reads one photograph and can misjudge it in darkness, rain, snow, glare, or from a difficult camera angle. Garage Check is a reminder, not a guarantee — when in doubt, check the door. Making sure the camera has a clear, unobstructed view of the full door helps accuracy a lot.
An outdoor Ring camera that can see your garage door, already set up and working in the Ring app. Indoor cameras are not supported, and Garage Check is available in the United States only.
No. The model reads the state of the garage door only. It does not recognise, describe, or identify people, performs no facial recognition or biometric analysis, and does not read license plates — vehicle presence is reported as a simple yes/no.
